30th Anniversary - The Launch of James Cook

OYT North has heritage dating back to the very start of the Sail Training movement and was first known as Ocean Youth Club in the 1960s. The James Cook is a purpose-built Sail Training Vessel; and was launched in 1987 serving the North East of England. Since its beginnings, thousands of young people have stepped aboard our vessels and experienced ‘Adventure under Sail’. OYT North now operate in the North Sea (based in North Shields, Tyne and Wear) and the Irish Sea (Based in Whitehaven, Cumbria) and provides ‘Adventure under Sail’ for an estimate of 500 young people per year. 

This September we will be approaching James Cook's 30th year of Sail Training and OYT North aim to celebrate her heritage. More information to follow.
