Social Impact Study

At Ocean Youth Trust North we strive to continue to develop the Adventure under Sail® experience and to understand how the children and young people who sail with us benefit from their voyage.

We rely upon end-of-voyage feedback to develop what we do during a sail training voyage and how we do it. To understand the medium- to longer-term impact that a sail training voyage has on the young crews and our full-time and volunteer sea-staff we have conducted a Social Impact Study; this study presents compelling evidence of the positive impact OYT North has had and provides a useful foundation on which we can build.

This study was conducted by Professor Heather Prince, a renowned academic in Outdoor Adventure Education from the University of Cumbria, and Dr Eric Fletcher, our lead on research here at Ocean Youth Trust North.
